October Craftsmanship and Trades Fair

We are excited for October! Why you ask? Aside from falling leaves, cozy socks, and Halloween. The Craftsmanship and Trades Fair is October 3rd!!!
Prepare yourself for a day of awesomeness! Save your money now, there will be so many unique and amazing pieces. We will have metal art, wood furniture, jewelry, crosses, art, cooking utensils, bird houses, you name it!
Why not do all of your Christmas shopping in one go. You will have it done early and the people on your list will get some beautiful and unique presents!

Don't forget that this event benefits victims, children of offenders, other inmates learning new crafts and much more! A portion of the proceeds will go to that inmate’s children or family members, to the Crime Victims Reparation Fund, and to support other inmate vocational programs. The inmate will also receive a portion of the proceeds and some will be placed in a savings account to aid the inmate when he or she is released.

Join us! Tickets are only $5 – You can purchase them here https://www.eventbrite.com/myevent?eid=17832323961

As the last days of summer are winding down and fall approaches, inmates at the Level II hoop houses are busy harvesting their crops.

Tomatoes, Cucumbers and Squash oh my!

They have an abundance of yummy fruits and vegetables. So far they have harvested chile, tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. These fruits and veggies are used in the kitchen, so the inmates are reaping what they sow.
Hear from Ray Thomas to find out what his favorite thing about the hoop houses is in the video below!

At Central New Mexico Correctional Facility inmates are working side by side to learn basic carpentry skills. This includes hours of classroom work and hands on experience. With this hands on experience they are learning everything from framing, sheet rock, and roofing.

Programs such as this one provide the inmates with a skill set that can be used to find jobs when they leave prison and 96% of them will get out.

Check out our video on the program!
