Cotton Journey from Abuse to Love in Prison

Our city shelters are full of loving dogs looking for a new home. Some haven't had the easiest life; suffering abuse. Cotton was no exception. The East Coast mix breed was abused and left on the side of the road with her new puppies.

A rescue and cross-country trip brought Cotton to the New Mexico Women’s Correctional Facility in Grants and the “Heeling Hearts” program. The therapeutic and skills training program pairs incarcerated women and a rescue dogs.

Take a look at Cotton and her handler Natalie today!
